Connecting to the High Speed Internet Service
1. Start with your PC turned off.
2. Plug the Ethernet cord from the blue wall jack
(LongRun adapter or cable modem) into the Ethernet
jack on your PC.
3. Turn on your PC.
4. Open your web browser; i.e. Internet Explorer or
Netscape.
5. Follow the instructions on your web browser to
connect to the Internet.
If you have a problems connecting to the Internet
- please check the following:
- Make sure you are using an Ethernet
cable NOT a phone cable. An Ethernet cable is round,
is wider and the jack has 8 conductors.
- Make sure your Ethernet cable is plugged into the
blue wall jack (LongRun adapter or cable modem) as
well as the Ethernet jack on your computer.
- If your condo Unit has a LongRun adapter or cable
modem, make sure it is plugged into AC, that its LEDs
are lit, and that a telephone cord connects the LongRun
adapter to the telephone wall outlet.
- Verify your computer is configured to automatically
get an IP Address, and is configured to automatically
get DNS Servers. If it is not, then please enable
DHCP on your computer. See
“ How do I configure
DHCP?”
Anti-virus software
You should have installed and be using commercially available virus protection software and be updating it regularly. If a computer in your condo Unit is found to be transmitting a virus and harming our network, we may shut down your Internet access until the virus is removed from your computer.
Internet Security
You are using a shared Local Area Network (LAN) similar to LANs used in businesses and organizations throughout the world. A firewall has been installed to help prevent "hackers" from entering your LAN. If you are concerned about your computer security within the LAN or for the data on your computer, you should install a software firewall application on your computer.
